Abstract:

The INCA (Interaction of aerosol and chemistry) module is attached to the LMDzT atmospheric GCM and thus part of the IPSL coupled climate model. The aerosol properties are described by a modal approach. Recent effort centered on improving radiative forcing, black carbon transport and humidity growth parameterisations. Validation is done in the frame of the AeroCom model intercomparison initiative. The performance against different observational tests are used to seek to improve the models parameterisations.
While it is difficult to outperform the AeroCom mean model, improvements can be made and can be quantified. The perspectives of model development in the frame of an intercomparison are outlined
