Abstract:

The Tropospheric Emission Spectrometer (TES) is an infrared, high-resolution Fourier transform spectrometer which was launched on board NASA's Aura satellite in 2004 and is providing global, vertically resolved measurements of ozone and carbon monoxide in the troposphere. I will give an overview of the instrument, the data products and the validation status. Some recent science findings related to air quality will be presented. Also, the use of TES data as part of proposed work with the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality to evaluate and improve their air quality modeling efforts will be presented.
